There are two ways to become certified:

Chapter Members

Our chapters are available for individuals to join across Canada. Each of these chapters is equipped with a designated point of contact: the Chapter Administrators. Feel free to connect directly with the Chapter Administrators to initiate your engagement and participation in the respective chapters.

Direct Associates

Direct associates refer to Operators who operate independently without being part of a specific chapter. These individuals are coordinated by a Certification Coordinator based at the head office. To connect with the Certification Coordinator refer to the Head Office Contacts.

Embark on your organic journey by deciding to get certified. Connect with TCO Cert’s office to locate a Chapter or contact person near you who will guide you through the process.

Submit your commitment by providing an Organic System Plan and signing an Operator Licensing Agreement. If you choose to join a Chapter, the Chapter Administrator can assist you in completing the necessary documents for your initial application.

Your application undergoes a thorough review for completeness, followed by a pre-inspection assessment. You might need to provide additional information at this stage. Once cleared, a Verification Officer (VO) is assigned to visit your operation. The VO coordinates the inspection, ensuring you’re available to answer questions. After the inspection, there’s an exit interview, and a detailed report is prepared for you and TCO Cert.

Your completed file, along with the Inspection Report, undergoes a comprehensive review to ensure compliance with the Canadian Organic Regime (COR). Further information may be requested if needed.
A decision is then made. If it’s positive, TCO Cert issues a Certificate of Organic Certification, listing your certified products. This certification remains valid until you decide to “Surrender” it or if it is “Suspended” and subsequently “Cancelled.”
Each year there must be an annual update and inspection.
